Wow! Had a Friday lunch date at John's and we loved it. An unusual service system, no waitstaff and your order is taken at host stand. It actually really works, nice to be left to enjoy the person you are with and the delicious food! Do not miss the lobster salad, chicken Milanese and their amazing burger! Friday at 12N is a great time to go.

If I could give 6 stars I would! Everything from the food, to the service, to the ambiance was perfection with every dish better than the last. I'll be dreaming about this meal for a very long time, and can't wait to return!!!

Loved everything about this Lincoln Park gem, from the delicious food, to the great service, and cozy vibes. The staff went above and beyond to make sure our order didn't have any of my food allergies. All around great experience. My sister and I split the following dishes and all were exceptional: Lobster salad, citrus cured hamachi crudo, beef tartare, roasted beet salad, duck breast

A small but intimate restaurant - really interesting concept where it's a nicer restaurant but you order first up front with the hostess before being taken to your table. We got the lobster salad, beef tartare, milk bread, branzino and a cosmo and white wine. The ordering system turned out to be pretty efficient as our drinks were brought out right away, and the flavors of all the dishes were on point! Would maybe skip the milk break. Also note that the restaurant is walk in only so would recommend going on the earlier side. Price point is on the higher side, but I think overall worth it for the quality of dishes. Food: 5/5 Ambience: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Price: 4/5

First time eating here and we loved the food. We had a great table where we could watch the kitchen which I love to do as a voyeur. It's an interesting concept to order ahead and then sit but I loved being able to leave without waiting for the check because we prepaid. Service was excellent, dishes came out at the perfect pace. I wish I had room for dessert. The sour cherry sorbet sounds delicious.

We've had John's Food & Wine on our radar for some time now so we came in on a Friday evening and put our name down. It was about an hour or so wait so we stopped by an izakaya spot near by for a drink and appie. Then the restaurant texted us letting us know our table was ready. We got the Milk Bread, Roasted Beet Salad, Beef Fat Fries, Grilled Pork Collar, and the Salted Crème Fraiche Ice Cream to end off our meal. We also had their sommelier pair natural/bio-dynamic wines for us which were phenomenal! Overall, the food was delicious and wine pairings were chosen thoughtfully. The ambiance was very cozy and the restaurant had a nice buzz. The service great as well and the host/servers were welcoming. We would stop by again the next time we're in Chicago.

I've been meaning to come here ever since it opened and I'm so happy I finally had the chance! The vibes were immaculate. It's such a perfect date night or girl's night out dinner spot. The set up is a little different because you expect it to be like a normal restaurant service set up, but you have to place your entire order at the front and then you get seated. Not sure if I hate or love it but it definitely didn't affect how I felt about the experience overall. The food was amazing!! We got the green bean salad, beef salad, lobster salad, beef tartare, bass, and the sesame ice cream. There wasn't one thing we wouldn't get again. The portions were great for 2 people to try a substantial portion of each dish. It might be a little bit on the smaller side if you have a bigger party. Overall I can't wait to come back!! Might be one of my favorite new spots I've tried this year!

Wabbit Weview: -Lobster Salad: 8/10 -Green Bean Salad: 6/10 -Grilled Pork Shoulder: 7/10 - White Sesame Ice Cream: 8/10 Wabbit Wemarks: overall fresh and unique dishes with good flavors, ambiance can get a bit loud for chatting, friendly staff Bear Weview: -Lobster Salad: 7.5/10 -Green Bean Salad: 7.5/10 -Grilled Pork Shoulder: 7/10 - White Sesame Ice Cream: 8/10 Bear Wemarks: salads were fresh and fragrant with exciting flavors and depth; small portions. Pork was good, juicy and tender. If you have teeth you don't really need a knife, then accompanying veggies were a little bland even with the sauce. Dessert was good, not too sweet and had a variety of flavors

My wife and I have walked places this restaurant a handful of times when in the area and decided to stop in to split something for lunch. The food was unbelievably good! Beef fat fries - 5/5 - super crispy thick cut fries with a great complementary aioli Fish sandwich 10/5 - two pieces of crispy fish, kimchi ketchup and a caper slaw. This sandwich was seriously unreeeeeeeal... everything went together so well and it was not super sloppy. Our service was great and the restaurant was probably 50% full. Hidden gem this is one of those places you don't want to review because you want it to be your spot and not get overcrowded but the people need to know! We'll be back!

I had heard such amazing things about John's from social media and colleagues, but I must admit that I was a bit underwhelmed by my experience. The dining structure at John's has you order your entire meal prior to being seated. Luckily, I was with a friend who had been before and helped us place our order for our group with the host. The host was very helpful with recommendations, however, he was not confident about which foods were gluten free and had to check with the kitchen several times. Once seated, the sommelier was very friendly and helped us pick out a bottle of wine for the table. He was very knowledgeable!! The food overall was good, but has left me wanting more. The market salad and ricotta gnocchi were my favorite dishes, which I highly recommend ordering. The pork shoulder had great flavor, but it was a bit undercooked, and the lemon parfait was shockingly too salty - and I usually love some salt on my dessert. Overall, I'm between a 3 and 4 star rating. I'd love to give this place another shot, as maybe it was a bad night in the kitchen. I just didn't think it lived up to Chicago restaurant caliber.
